Charge comes after claim that Michael J. Fox was exaggerating the symptoms of Parkinson’s in campaign ad
Conservative radio commentator Rush Limbaugh said today that troops supposedly killed in Iraq are “probably just acting” dead. The Department of Defense estimates that there have been over 2,800 US military deaths in Iraq, but the talk-show host has expressed doubt and claimed the estimate is “really shameless.”
“What do we really know about these so-called casualties? I haven’t personally seen any. How do we know people are just acting so they can come home and take away support for the war,” Limbaugh said on his radio program today.
“And that’s not all, my friends,” continued Limbaugh. “The number of wounded troops is said to be over 21,000. With the injuries there’s no way to be sure that they’re all legitimate. Most of those people are probably acting, too.”
Limbaugh continued on this theme for the remainder of his show, claiming that the homeless, pacifists, special needs children, Iraqi civilians, citizens worried about the death of habeas corpus, Democrats, Bob Woodward, anyone who disagrees with any policy ever put forward by a Republican, atheists, liberals, communists, socialists, anarchists, nihilists, people who think the GOP tried to cover for Mark Foley, crumbling public schools, and those with poor heath care are also just “acting.”
